    También Scarbs ha escrito unos 'tweets' muy interesantes desde el punto de vista técnico. En concreto, con los elementos de la suspensión trasera. Desde hace cierto tiempo, se viene hablando que los autos del equipo Mercedes, en el paso por curva "corrigen/giran" en cierto grado las ruedas traseras.

    Part of the updates to the W11is a revision to the rear suspension for Aero reasons. The rear tracked has been moved up inbetween the rear upper (RTWB) and lower wishbones (RLWB).





    For many years Merc have made the lower wishbone and track rod as one "Z" shaped part, from a mix of carbon fibre and Ti metal sections. With a tunnel in one leg to let the driveshaft pass thru.



    Now the track rod is separate and higher (yellow to red), which places it in a different position relative the diffuser, creating a different cascade effect with the wishbones and diffuser












    In this position there may be a kinetic effect to create roll steer, but this could have been achieved to an extent with the old position. Roll steer changes the toe (steered) angle of the rear wheel with suspension movement and can steer slightly as the car goes through turns.

    La AT01 "bajo la lupa":

    F1 2020 : L’Alpha Tauri AT01 à la loupe

    Première monoplace de l’ère Alpha Tauri (qui succède à Toro Rosso), l’AT01 séduit par sa robe originale. Mais au-delà des apparences, la monoplace de Pierre Gasly et Daniil Kvyat opère un mariage réussi entre composants empruntés à Red Bull et pièces faites maison. Analyse en images.





    UN PETIT AIR D’ALFA ROMEO OU DE BMW-WILLIAMS ?

    Avec sa couleur blanche et sa nouvelle appellation, l’Alpha Tauri pourrait être confondu, de loin, avec l’Alfa Romeo dans la décoration définitive, surtout de face. Heureusement, à la place du rouge, c’est du bleu qui a été choisi pour habiller la dernière-née de Faenza, qui pourrait aussi rappeler les bolides de l’épopée BMW-Williams, à laquelle participa Franz Tost, le patron de la petite squadra.


    Quoiqu’il en soit, l’Alpha Tauri possède un indéniable air de famille avec la grande sœur Red Bull, plus sous le capot qu’en ce qui concerne la carrosserie. Et pour cause, Dieter Mateschitz a souhaité que ses deux écuries suivent le modèle Haas-Ferrari, à savoir partager le plus possible de pièces en commun, dans le cadre autorisé.


    Selon l’annexe 6 du règlement sportif, une équipe doit construire la monocoque, la cellule de survie, les arceaux, les ailerons, le fond plat, le diffuseur et la “carrosserie” (c’est-à-dire toutes les surfaces sur lesquelles s’écoule le flux d’air).


    Dans le cas de Toro Rosso, ces pièces sont fabriquées à Faenza, même si la carrosserie est sculptée à Bicester, en Grande-Bretagne, là où est installé le département aérodynamique de l’équipe, qui exploite l’ancienne soufflerie de Red Bull (opérant à 50 %).



    UN MIXTE D’EMPRUNTS ET DE CRÉATIONS

    On note ainsi que l’Alpha Tauri conserve son aileron à dièdre négatif à la mode Ferrari (dont les volets descendent vers les extrémités), auquel a été ajoutée une “cape” (flèches jaunes), comme sur la plupart des F1 2020.


    En simplifiant, ce modèle permet de générer beaucoup d’outwash (c’est-à-dire d’orienter le flux d’air vers les côtés afin qu’il emporte et écarte les turbulences causées par la rotation des roues avant), mais sans doute moins de charge maximale.


    Il serait plus simple à exploiter que le modèle retenu par sa grande sœur Red Bull, même si celle-ci, comme Mercedes a quelque peu abaissé les volets sur les côtés au fil de la saison passée.




    Le reste des composants (soit les “pièces non listées” dans le jargon) est acheté par la squadra à Red Bull Technologies :


    À l’arrière, on reprend la transmission, le caisson en carbone, les triangles de suspension, la structure déformable chargée d’absorber les impacts, les porte-moyeux, etc.”, nous confiait l’an passé Jody Egginton, le directeur technique de Toro… euh Alpha Tauri.


    “À l’avant, on hérite des composants internes de la suspension (ressorts, amortisseurs), la direction – bref, toutes les pièces situées hors du flux d’air. Par contre, nous dessinons les triangles avant, toutes les pièces de la carrosserie, etc.”



    L’influence de Red Bull est repérable sur la carrosserie : l’AT01 a repris la casquette du S-duct (voyez la flèche bleue sur la première image) et entrée d’air subdivisée horizontalement de la RB15.



    UN CAPOT MOTEUR PLUS DODU…

    L’AT01 n’est toutefois pas une RB16 rhabillée aux couleurs de la marque de vêtements qui donne son nom à l’équipe. Le nez, par exemple, conserve sa largeur (contrairement à la Red Bull RB16, la Mercedes W11 et la McLaren MCL35) tout en ne possédant aucun orifice.


    Quant aux entrées d’air des pontons, elles se démarquent à la fois de la STR14 et de la Red Bull. Elles sont plus arrondies, moins rectangulaires, comme si l’étroitesse avait été privilégiée à la hauteur. Cette finesse a imposé aux ingénieurs de loger une partie des radiateurs du système de refroidissement en hauteur sous le capot.


    Cette configuration, adoptée par plusieurs écuries dont Red Bull, suggère que les gains aérodynamiques compensent le rehaussement du centre de gravité.



    UNE BOÎTE DE VITESSES ADAPTÉE AU MOTEUR HONDA

    Si le bargeboard conserve son ailette en forme de demi-boomerang, celle-ci s’attache différemment au panneau latéral, qui semble avoir été repris à la Ferrari. Dans cette zone de la voiture, une nouvelle philosophie a été choisie, plus proche de la SF1000 que de la RB16.


    Il est un domaine où l’AT01 marque un progrès considérable par rapport à sa devancière. On le sait, pour des raisons de calendrier de production, Faenza reçoit de Red Bull Technologies des spécifications de la saison précédente :


    “Les pièces que nous recevons sont des spécifications de la saison passée, pour des raisons de délais de production, a expliqué Egginton à F1i. Nos collègues de Milton Keynes gèlent leur concept très tard et Red Bull ne peut pas fabriquer des pièces à la fois pour elle et pour nous. Franchement, cela nous arrange, car on sait que la transmission, par exemple, sera livrée très tôt et qu’il n’y aura pas de retard de production.”



    L’an dernier, la dernière Toro Rosso avait reçu une transmission Red Bull datant de 2018, étudiée pour accueillir le V6 Renault. L’intégration avait été possible, amis avait demandé quelques ajustements. Cet hiver, ces arrangements seront inutiles puisque c’est une boîte de vitesses et un système de refroidissement adaptés au moteur Honda que les ingénieurs d’Alpha Tauri ont reçus cet hiver.


    Voilà qui devrait aider Pierre Gasly et Daniil Kvyat à atteindre l’ambitieux objectif d’une cinquième place finale fixé par Franz Tost.

    Il muso mantiene la stessa filosofia vista sulla W010. Il concetto aerodinamico non è cambiato in quanto si privilegia un passaggio del flusso d’aria esternamente ai piloncini di sostegno con il nosecone che va a stringersi per poi ri-allargarsi nuovamente nella zona di attacco dei turning vanes. Novità che condizionano il flusso d’aria al di sotto e ai lati del naso molto stretto e con la gestione del flusso d’aria demandata all’ala anteriore e agli importanti turning vanes a scivolo. Si può infatti vedere dall’immagine in alto come la W11 continui ad utilizzare, nella parte iniziale del muso, le classiche “zanne” che sono dei componenti aerodinamici che vanno a sostituire i veri e propri turning vanes e fungono da convogliatori utili ad incanalare il flusso diretto verso i bargeboard. In prossimità dello slot del sistema S-Duct sono state confermate le due piccole “corna” introdotte durante la stagione passata che hanno la funzione di aumentare l’effetto di downwash.




    L’ala anteriore è similare a quella utilizzata durante la fine della passata stagione
    ma è uno dei componenti che è destinato a cambiare durante i test di Barcellona cosi come altri componenti all’anteriore. La zona esterna non è scarica come abbiamo visto su Ferrari, Alfa Romeo e Red Bull. Tra la parte neutra e l’inizio del mainplane è stato mantenuto il piccolo “ricciolo” che genera un vortice molto importante per il corretto funzionamento aerodinamico della parte centrale e posteriore della vettura. Sugli endplate sono stati posizionati due piccoli deviatori di flusso posizionati sul marciapiede esterno.



    A livello sospensivo è stato confermato il push rod all’anteriore
    e per migliorare la pulizia aerodinamica i tecnici del team anglo tedesco hanno confermato anche il collegamento a pivot tra il triangolo superiore e il portamozzo. Alzare il braccio superiore della sospensione permette di influenzare meno il flusso in arrivo alle bocche di raffreddamento dei radiatori. È ben evidente l’estremizzazione della soluzione definita dagli inglesi POU che sta per Pushrod On Upright, nient’altro che il fissaggio del push rod sul montante e non collegato direttamente al triangolo inferiore della sospensione come avveniva anni fa. Ferrari si è allineata a Mercedes, di cui tanto lo scorso anno s’è parlato nel post Monaco GP.



    La parte centrale è senza dubbio l’area in cui gli ingegneri anglo tedeschi si sono concentrati maggiormente rispetto alla W10. Come vi abbiamo raccontato più volte, nella passata stagione, il problema principale della W10 era il raffreddamento della Power Unit che gli ha impedito di esprimere il massimo potenziale dell’unità motrice. Per riuscire a risolvere questa problematica è stata modificata la disposizione delle masse radianti e si è seguita la filosofia lanciata dalla Ferrari nel 2017 nel disegno delle prese di raffreddamento. Quest’ultime sono state mantenute in una posizione piuttosto arretrata per aumentare la distanza tra la ruota anteriore e la presa di raffreddamento laterale. In questo modo è più facile cosi gestire i flussi in uscita dall’ala anteriore e soprattutto controllare gli effetti negativi generati dalla scia degli pneumatici anteriori. La presa d’aria di raffreddamento è stata alzata grazie allo spostamento in posizione ribassata del cono anti intrusione superiore. Cosi facendo si è creata un’importante svasatura nella parte bassa, fondamentale per generare un effetto di downwash utile a migliorare le prestazioni del posteriore vettura. Inoltre, le dimensioni delle prese di raffreddamento sembrano essere molto contenute.



    Modifica molto importante nel retrotreno della W11 dove il design della pance è stato estremizzato rispetto alla vettura predente.
    E’ stato creato un vero e proprio scivolo per indirizzare verso il basso il flusso d’aria (sfruttando l’effetto Coanda) che andrà a scorrere sulla parte superiore del diffusore.



    L’airscope è molto simile alla specifica vista sulla W10 dello scorso anno con tre ingressi ben distinti che vanno ad alimentare il compressore e il raffreddamento del sistema ibrido.



    La sospensione posteriore, cosi come Red Bull, è uno dei componenti più modificati sul posteriore della W11. Mercedes ha optato per un “avventuroso” layout per liberare importanti opportunità di sviluppo aerodinamico.


    La T-wing è monoplano con i due supporti verticali già visti la scorsa stagione. Confermata anche la soluzione a doppio pilone con il collo di cigno per sostenere un’ala posteriore che è una specifica, cosi come l’anteriore, già vista la scorsa stagione.

    Imola se ha ofrecido a albergar la carrera de F1 si no se disputa el GP de China, pero incluso el jefe de la pista reconoce que puede ser una "misión imposible".
